Hello Members of the Grand Island High School Class of 1978!
Your reunion committee has been hard at work since last Spring, planning what we hope will be a memorable weekend!
You should have received a postcard giving you the dates – July 3 to 5, 2008, a brief agenda and the news that we had some rooms blocked off at the Holiday Inn. I do not know if there are any rooms left; you can call the H.I. at 773-1111 to find out.
I am contacting you now to ask for help!
We have nearly 100 “missing” classmates (See list below). If you know the whereabouts of any of these people, please send me their info or give them my e-mail so we can get them all the details.
Also, there are things that need doing that can be done via the internet, so if you’d like to help, but live at a distance, we will find something for you to do!
For example…
Tina (Krzes) Arthur is in Colorado. She is putting together a PowerPoint slide show for us to enjoy at Saturday night’s dinner-dance. If you have any photos you would like her to include, you can contact her at: tarthur17@gmail.com . These can be current photos of your life today, high school days, or anywhere between or before.
Suzanne (Cornwall) Trudell is working on a website for us. She would be really happy to get some help, as she’s never done this before! If you have experience in this area or are just willing to lend a hand, please contact her at: suzieqtrudell@msn.com . She will gladly let you know what she needs done!

We want to put together a class directory/memory book. Donna Prince and I are considering taking on the job, but it will require many hours of data-entry. If you can type – you can help! If anyone has graphic or layout experience, please let us know. If we do it ourselves, we can save money and have more pages.
We are open to other ideas as well. We have gotten some great suggestions, but they need someone willing to take them on.

4. State basket raffle (the Class of ’77 did this and I heard it was very nice.)
5. Organizing babysitters for our out-of-town classmates (yes, at least of us has a baby and many have smaller children and no family in town.
We will also need help with decorating and un-decorating. Making nametags and other things we haven’t even thought of yet! You see – there IS something YOU can do to help!

Here’s one thing everyone can do – send in your registration money – NOW!
As you know, it takes money to put on this event and, unfortunately, our small committee is about out of funds. We have all pre-paid our registrations ($50.00 per person for the dinner dance) to get us going. Now we are asking for your assistance. If you plan on attending the Saturday evening dinner-dance on July 5th, we would greatly appreciate it if you could send your money soon! We will be sending full info in late March, but in the meantime, we need money to get the brochures printed, buy stamps, reserve the sound-man, etc. Ticket prices will be $50 per person if paid by April 30th. After that, it will be $60.00. All registrations must be paid by June 1st.

January 2008 . . .We need volunteers with graphic layout experience to help put together our memory/address book. With the wonder of the internet, you do not even have to be in WNY to assist with this!
We have a lot of good ideas -- we just need more hands! We hope to have several people working on this so no one or two people have to do it all.

November 2007 . . .The next planning meeting for the Class of 1978 30th Reunion will be held Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Grand Island Memorial Library/Community Room on Bedell Road.

GIHS Class of 1978 Announces More 30th Reunion Plans
October 11, 2007 . . .The plans for our 30th Reunion are shaping up nicely!
Thursday night, July 3, 2008 -- informal gathering at River Oaks.
We will have a private tent with tables and a cash bar set up. The Clubhouse
regular menu will be available inside for anyone who wants a bite to eat.
Donations will be accepted to help offset the cost of the tent and bartender. This event is also open to members of other classes or those who may have graduated from private or parochial schools but want to catch up with old friends.
Friday, July 4th -- no formally scheduled events. Info will be available on the race, parade, fireworks and other activities available in the area.
Saturday, July 5th -- dinner dance at the GI Holiday Inn, 5:30 p.m. – Midnight. The cost has not yet been finalized.
Sunday, July 6th -- open for friends to gather on their own accord. We are not planning anything, as many will need to leave to return home.
There are a limited number of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn for Thursday – Saturday nights. Call soon – especially if you want to be riverside!
Our next planning meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. We will again be in the Community Room at the Grand Island Memorial Library on Bedell Road. Come and join us with your ideas!

Class of '78 Reunion July 3-8, 2008 UPDATES
August 28, 2007 . . .The Grand Island High School Class of 1978 has secured the Settlement Room at the Holiday Inn for their 30th Reunion Dinner Dance, to be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Other events, scheduled for the 3rd through the 6th, are still in the planning stages.
The next planning meeting will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10 a.m., in the Community Room at the Grand Island Memorial Library, located on Bedell Road. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you have been to past meetings or not -- just be sure to bring your ideas and sense of humor!

Class of 1978 Thirtieth Reunion Planning Meeting July 2, 2007
June 14, 2007 . . .The Grand Island Class of 1978 will hold another planning session from 7 to 8:45 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007 in the Grand Island Memorial Library Community Room.
At the last meeting, we set July 3 – 6, 2008 as the dates for our 30th reunion celebration. Locations have not yet been confirmed. At this meeting, our goal is to narrow down our locations and further discuss possible events. All class members are invited to bring their ideas to these planning sessions. By starting early, we hope to spread out the workload so no one is overwhelmed and we all have fun.

Class of 1978 Announces Reunion Plans
May 28, 2003 . . .
The Grand Island High School Class of 1978 reunion committee has announced that a 25-year reunion weekend will begin on Friday evening, July 4, 2003 with classmates and friends meeting at the Holiday Inn for the 'Blues on the River.' The night will include live bands, cash bar, good friends and fireworks after dusk. On Saturday, July 5th, a softball game and bbq is planned from 10 a.m. to dusk at Beaver Island Park. Families are encouraged to attend, and while bbq's will be present this is a BYOB and BYOFood event.
"We have reserved the baseball diamond in area 3, located at the far eastern edge of the park," reunion spokesman Wayne Weis reported this week. Parking is available on the loop or the parking lot. Because it would be helpful to have an idea of the number of participants before hand, please contact Wayne at weis4@adelphia.net.
