“I feel that it’s not enough to simply convene a meeting and wait for issues to come before the Town Board. We must actively find ways to make our town better. That’s why during my first term as councilman, I introduced more than forty action items to the Town Board’s agenda.”
Ø Project Alert – promoting school bus safety at the start of the school year
Ø KidBiz – bringing this nationally recognized program to GI to provide our children with an opportunity to learn about business
Ø GI Business Assistance Center – creating a program that can ease residential property taxes through controlled growth of our Town’s commercial tax base.
Ø Erie Canal Management Plan – as vice chair of a special state commission Heftka is working to have G.I. recognized as a “Canal Town” in order to benefit from state and federal programs.
Ø Residential Area Speed Limits – working through Traffic Safety Board to create “area speed zones” making residential streets safer
Ø Enhanced Animal Control – protecting our families from dangers such as rabies and west Nile virus
Ø Veterans Park Safety Patrol – organized this summer program to make Veterans Park safe and secure
