Sue Argy Announces Candidacy for Town Council - 2005

September 29, 2005 . . . Sue Argy, a lifelong Grand Island resident, has officially announced her candidacy for Grand Island Councilman. Sue is the endorsed candidate of the Democratic party.
As a working mother of four children, Sue truly understands the challenges that the working families face each day. Sue feels her accounting education and work experience gives her a knowledge of financial decisions, management and problem resolution that can aid her in making sound choices to benefit the Grand Island Community. As a Grand Island High graduate, Sue completed her education with Bryant & Stratton, receiving high honors in Accounting.
If elected, Sue would focus on smarter development of the community. She would promote strengthening of commercial development, while protecting the great rural characteristics that make this Island such a Grand place to live and call home.
As Grand Island Councilman, Sue would promote a stronger relationship between the Town and School boards. It is a priority for Sue to keep our children safe, involved and active in community and recreational activities.
Sue plans to make herself available and accessible to the residents and taxpayers of Grand Island. As a voice for the community, Sue will work hard to control taxes by making each tax dollar count, promoting accountability for spending and eliminating waste.
Sue has proven organizational and leadership skills as founder and president of The Parents Link, a support and advocacy group for parents of children with special needs due to neonatal brain injury. Sue is a parent representative for Parent to Parent of Western New York and Headway for Brain Injured. She is also a member at St. Stephen’s Parish here on Grand Island.
Sue has never run for a political office prior to this year’s general election, November 8th. Sue states, “I was born and raised here on Grand Island. My husband Mark and I enjoy raising our children here. I welcome the opportunity to return something to our residents. I believe my education and work experience give me the skills necessary to make effective choices for the best interest of our community. I have strong work ethics and a commitment to Grand Island and its residents.”
Sue Argy lives on Sandy Beach Road with her husband, Mark, and three of her four children. She is employed by a Buffalo law firm.
