Gerald J. Bell, social worker, health care program manager

Gerald J. “Jerry” Bell of Buffalo, a retired social worker and health care program manager, died Wednesday in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68.

Born in Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of the University at Buffalo and did graduate work there and at Cornell University and the University of Michigan.

He was director of social work with U. S. Ethicare Corp. from 1977 to 1981, then worked for Coordinated Care Management Corp., running the Heart Program until his retirement in 1991.

In retirement, he was a member of Interim Health Care and served for two decades as a trustee of the Buffalo Society of Artists. He also served on various other boards and committees.

Surviving is his companion of 40 years, Ron Concilla.

Services will be at 11 a. m. Monday in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls.
