A Grand soccer victory

Grand Island captured a battle of unbeatens in Niagara Frontier League girls soccer, as the Vikings (8-0, 7-0) took a 2-0 win over Kenmore West (6-1, 5-1).

"It was a good game. My girls played well," Grand Island coach Dave Bowman said. "They had possession a lot of the time. Kenmore has a couple of dangerous players. When they get opportunities, they can strike."

Jenna Raepple did all of the scoring for the Vikings.

"She's just a solid, strong player for us," Bowman said. "She played well … played a physical game, got to balls, and when she got opportunities, she made them count."

Bowman credited goalie Kristin Wegrzyn and defenders Jennie Taylor and Danielle Wegrzyn for keeping the Blue Devils off the scoreboard.
