NFL’S NEXT WEEK AT BEAVER ISLAND

            The Grand Island Cross Country Teams are having another outstanding season. The Boys Team finished the regular season at 7-0 and the Girls Team finished at 6-1 with their only NFL loss coming from Lockport. Recently, the team battled the flu, Ken West and NT winning both boys and girls meets. Leading the squad was Junior Nick Masiello winning with a strong performance at Bond Lake I. He was followed by Junior Jay Chadwick taking 3rd in another strong race and Sophomore Brendon Lutnick placed 4th. Freshman Cyle Alcorn ran his best race of the year taking 5th. TJ Howley, Matt Killian and Nate Beyer placed 7th, 8th and 9th respectively. The Girls squad ran just as impressive as Freshman Ayla Marino and Senior Captain Amber Speisz worked together to take 1-2. Maggie DeMarco and Angelina Howe worked together to take 3rd and 4th. Freshman Brianna Gibney ran her best race of the year taking 8th.

            The Boys Team placed 4th and the Girls Team took 5th at the Alden Invite on Saturday. Nick Masiello and Maritina Tsembelis led the squads both taking 3rd place.  Derek Stacey was 11th, Jay Chadwick 31st, Brendon Lutnick 56th, TJ Howley 69th and Matt Killian took 78th. On the Girls team Megan Karpie was 25th, Amber Spiesz was 35th, Maggie DeMarco 49th and Angelina Howe placed 74th.

            The team will rest this weekend to get ready for the NFL Championships next week at Beaver Island on Saturday beginning at 2:00PM.
