ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO SELL RELAY LUMINARIA AT PRIME OUTLETS

Luminaria Candles Honor and Remember Friends and Loved Ones Who’ve Faced Cancer, Proceeds to benefit American Cancer Society

WHAT:           The busiest shopping days of the year will also be busy days for the fight against cancer.

Volunteers from Grand Island High School will sell Relay For Life Holiday Luminaria at the Prime Outlets Mall.  Holiday Luminaria include a luminaria bag and candle and are similar to the ones sold annually at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life on Grand Island.  Luminaria honor and remember people who have faced cancer in their lives.  The Luminaria will be available for $5 and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy and patient service programs through the Relay For Life on Grand Island.

Last year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life event on Grand Island raised more than $50,000 for the fight against cancer.  A similar mall promotion last year raised about $1,000.
