St. Bonaventure senior
lacrosse player Catherine Mellon (Grand Island) was named to the Verizon
Academic All-America University Division At-Large Second team. Previously,
Mellon had been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of
the Year.
The Women's At-Large team is selected from the sports of lacrosse, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming and tennis. Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America select the winners.
Mellon had a 3.92 grade point average for her four years at St. Bonaventure. She earned a dual degree in math and computer science in 2001 and remained at Bona to earn certification in secondary education in math.
