Front page news, photographs, feature articles, sports, Grand Island Fire Company and Erie County Sheriff's reports and more were posted over the Internet Saturday, October 28, 2000 to coincide with the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Business/Community Expo 2000 which drew 1000 to the annual event.
A steady stream of residents stopped at the Isledegrande.com booth at Expo 2000 to take a look at the new on-line newspaper on the computer provided by Schopp.
News editor is Teddy Linenfelser, formerly with the Island Dispatch and the Grand Island Record. William O'Connor covers town board action as well as other Grand Island news. Former school board member and local reporter Lee Cohen will report on school district news. Kim Baldassare is president of GIECOM. Feature writers will include Ruth Stahl (Treasures), Ted Kumlander (My Life), and Barbi Lare has been named photographer.
