Development items sent to planners

7/2/2002

The Grand Island Town Board on Monday referred six development items to the town Planning Board, including a revised site plan for a day care center near Ransom and Stony Point roads.

Town Board members referred a revised site plan for the Woods-
creek Daycare Center at 1353 Ransom Road to planners for further review after some alterations were made to the proposed playground at the center.

The day care center building has been constructed, and the facility is expected to secure its state license later this month before officially opening, according to Daniel F. Robillard, town councilman.

The day care center is located in the same area as the proposed Wilson Farms convenience store and gas station, which has generated controversy. The store plan has angered a local citizens group that argues the store and gas pumps will increase traffic and pose safety hazards in the area.

Among the other items referred to planners are site plans for a boat-storage building on Cox Road and additional storage buildings on Bedell Road.
