Car Seat Safety Check - April 2021Buffalo, NY - Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces his office is hosting free car seat safety checks again. The agency will be hosting at the Grand Island Substation, 1856 Whitehaven Road on April 17 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Parents and guardians are urged to practice COVID-19 protocols. There will be a limited number of seats checked due to social distancing and added safety measures, so people are encouraged to be patient and check the schedule for other nearby events.
GI Man Arrested for Harrassment/Hate Crime - April 2021Buffalo, NY - Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces Deputies arrested 33-year-old Timothy Knight, Jr. of Grand Island for threatening an African American victim over several weeks. The Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint by a Grand Island man who was receiving threatening communications from the defendant. The communications elevated to physical threats with racial overtones and epithets.
After an investigation and consultation with the District Attorney’s office, Knight was arrested on April 12. The defendant is charged with a felony count of 2nd-degree hate crime/aggravated harassment. Knight was processed and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
