2007 WINTER WATERFOWL DRAWINGS FOR NYS PARKS

 

Beaver Island State Park, West River Parkway, Motor and Strawberry Islands:

 

The blind assignment during the second half of the Canada Goose Season (12/7 - 12/16/07) will be done by call-in ONLY by calling 773-2010 between the hours of 9:00am - 12:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.   The call-ins will start on Thursday 12/6/07 and conclude on Thursday 12/14/07.  The Tuesday call in is for Thursday - Sunday blinds and Thursday for Monday - Wednesday.  

 

The Waterfowl Hunting Season (12/29/07 – 1/13/08),  which includes duck and goose, will be done by lottery at 5:30am sharp the day of the hunt at the Grand Island Community Center located at the Nike Base, 3278 Whitehaven Road.

 

The exceptions are:  Goose Hunting for 12/26 – 12/28/07 will be done by call-in on 12/24/07 between 9:00am – 12:00pm by calling 773-2010.  Also the draw for 1/1/08 will be done on 12/31/07

and the draw for 1/13/08 will be done on 1/12/08 at 5:30 am. 

 

All call-in permits must be picked up at the Park Office prior to the day of the hunt. Dogs are only permitted during the second half of the season when hunters also have a boat available should an emergency arise while the dogs are retrieving. 

 

To participate in the lottery drawings or call-ins, hunters must present a valid NYS Small Game Hunting license with a signed duck stamp, proof of completion of a Waterfowl ID course and proof of registration in the Harvest Information Program (HIP). Fort Niagara, Joseph Davis, Wilson-Tuscarora, and Golden Hill State Parks

 

For the parks listed above, drawings will be held at the Fort Niagara State Park Maintenance Building from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the following days: December 27 and 31 and January:  3, 7 and 10.

 

To be eligible to participate in the lottery drawing hunters must have a current New York State Small Game license, a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp, a Harvest Information Program (HIP) number, and must have successfully completed the New York State Waterfowl Identification Course.  A dog OR boat for retrievals is also required.
