Class A
Grand Island vs. Sweet Home
While Sweet Home roared back from a slow start (it trailed by 15-10 at halftime) to add Iroquois to its steamrolled list, 42-15, Grand Island put on a clinic at Pioneer. Jim Blocho (967 yards, 14 TDs) and Jeff Bull (640 yards, nine TDs) ran wild while Chris Sica made clutch throws and linebacker Pat McCarthy snuffed things out. McCarthy has 112 tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries this season. The Vikings get great field position with punter Brett Kern (41-yard average) and Mike Feathers, who has booted 80 percent of his kickoffs for touchbacks.
The Panthers are hoping to repeat their 26-13 Week Three victory over GI for what would be the first stadium win in school history.

Soccer - Class A semifinals:
Grand Island, ranked first among large schools in Western New York, used two second-half goals to beat Clarence, 3-1. Jamie Dougherty had two goals and Kim Walker had one for the Vikings (17-1-1) while Corinne Razem made 16 saves. Grand Island's only loss came to Kenmore West as the teams split their NFL season series. Kenmore West struck early in both halves to upset top-seeded Lake Shore, 2-1, and earn another meeting with Niagara Frontier League rival Grand Island.
