Several rowers from Island excelled at the John Bennett Invitational Regatta at West Side Rowing Club last weekend. In the Boys competition Junior eight winner was the first place Canisius team of Cox-Peter Matteliano, Bow-Greg Hamm, 2-Paul Bonfante, 3-Ryan Donaldson, 4-Charles Graf, 5-Greg Goia, 6-Lee Richard, 7-Bob Ruh, and Stroke-Ted Sobelewski. Rowing on the West Side High School team for the girls competition and places third (44) overall were Junior eight winners Cox-Nicolette Crittelli, Bow-Rachel Morgan, 2-Sarah Nolder, 3-Katie Lynch, 4-Victoria McCraith, 5-Rachel Fulmer, 6-Maggie Fairapieute, 7-Justine Blum, and Stroke-Grace Schaefer.
