A regular meeting of the Town Board of Grand Island, New York was held at the Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY at 8:00p.m. on the 6th of October, 2008.

Supervisor Peter McMahon called the meeting to order at 8:00p.m.

David Nitkowski from New Apostolic Church gave the Invocation. 

Councilwoman Susan Argy led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Authorize Supervisor to Close Baseline Road – Grand Island Fire Company – Annual Fire Prevention Open House – October 10, 2008

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to authorize the closing of Baseline Road from 5:00p.m – 8:00p.m. between Grand Island Blvd. and Whitehaven Road on October 10, 2008 for the annual Fire Prevention Open House.

COUNCILMAN GARY G. ROESCH:

Empire State Development Corp. Wired Building Program – Round 5

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to authorize the Supervisor to sign an agreement with contractor IP Logic for execution of services associated with Round 5 of the Wired Building Program Grant in the amount of $11,577.50 subject to the approval of the Town Attorney.  This amount matches funding provided by Empire State Development Corporation.

A motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to accept the recommendation of the Town Engineer and authorize the Town Engineer to issue the Public Improvement Permit for sewers at East River Landings – Phase I (3 lots).

A motion was made by Councilwoman Argy, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to accept the recommendation of the Town Engineer and refer the Engineering Report to the Town Attorney for preparation of the Bond Resolution.

Award Contract – Veterans Park Concession Addition – Project M-66-05

Town Engineer John Whitney reported that the bids were opened on October 1, 2008 for  Veterans Park Concession Addition.  Four bids were received from the following:

 

 

Ackerman Plumbing                                            $  89,880.00

Peyton Barlow Co.                                          $102,600.00

Walter S. Johnson Building                                  $137,800.00

Sicoli Construction                                      $204,700.00

 

 

After careful review of the bids, Mr. Whitney recommended the low bidder, Ackerman Plumbing be awarded the bid in the amount of $89,880.00.

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilman Crawford to authorize the Town Engineer to award the bid for the Veterans Park Concession Addition in the amount of $89,880.00 to Ackerman Plumbing.
