A regular meeting of the Town Board of Grand Island, New York was held at the Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY at 8:00p.m. on the 7th of April, 2008.

Supervisor Peter McMahon called the meeting to order at 8:00p.m.

Mr. Calvin VanderMey from Bible Fellowship Center gave the Invocation.

Renewal HVAC Preventive Maintenance Contract – Grand Island Town Hall

A motion was made by Councilwoman Cooke, seconded by Councilman Roesch to authorize the Supervisor to sign a contract with M.J. Mechanical Services Inc. for the preventative maintenance and service contract for the Town Hall in the amount of $3,869.00.  The truck/mileage charge is $40 per call.

Award Bid – Liquid Sludge Hauling 2008

Town Engineer John Whitney reported that the bids were opened on March 28, 2008 for Liquid Sludge Hauling for 2008.  Two bids were received from the following:

 

Ball Toilet & Septic Services                    $0.04799 / gallon

 

J.A. Brundage – The Drain Doctor            $0.05000 / gallon

 

After careful review of the bids, Mr. Whitney recommended the low bidder, Ball Toilet & Septic Services be awarded the bid in the amount of $0.04799/gallon.

A motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to accept Mr. Whitney’s request for low bidder Ball Toilet & Septic Services be awarded the bid for Liquid Sludge Hauling for 2008 at $0.04799/gallon.

RECREATION DIRECTOR – LINDA TUFILLARO:

Award Bid – Box Seeder

Recreation Director Linda Tufillaro reported that the bids were opened on March 19, 2008 for a box seeder.  One bid was received from the following:

 

S.V. Moffett                                     $12,595.00

 

After careful review of the bids, Ms. Tufillaro recommended the sole bidder, S.V. Moffett be awarded the bid in the amount of $12,595.00.

A motion was made by Councilwoman Cooke, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to accept Ms. Tufillaro’s request for sole bidder S.V. Moffett be awarded the bid for a box seeder in the amount of $12, 595.00.

Summer Hires

A motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to authorize the Recreation Director to hire returning Part-time Maintenance workers from

April 8 – 25, 2008/19 hours per week:

Shaun Quinn @ $10.30/hr., Clifford Smith @ $10.50/hr., Neil Hoffman @ $9.42/hr., Tom Digati @ $10.30/hr., Andy Pappano @ $8.92/hr., Kyle Moody @ $9.42/hr., Ted Rogers @ $8.20/hr.

 

New hire Part-time worker/19 hours per week from April 8 – October, 2008:

Gerald Peete @ $9.42/hr.

 

Returning Part-time Seasonal Maintenance/40 hours per week effective April 8, 2008:

Clifford Smith @ $10.82/hr., effective April 14, 2008: Michael Cole @ $10.00/hr., effective April 21, 2008: Joseph Wilton @ $10.00/hr.; and Part-time seasonal/40 hours per week effective April 28, 2008: Shaun Quinn, Neil Hoffman, Tom Digati, Andy Pappano, Kyle Moody, Frank Strano and Mark Larry @$8.45/hr.

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to renew the Special Use Permit for Elderwood Senior Care at Riverwood on Grand Island Boulevard for an adult care facility/2 story addition.  The facility has been inspected by the Zoning Officer.
