The Town of Grand Island is seeking a Full Time Conditional Permanent Senior Engineer Assistant. This engineering technician position involves assisting civil/sanitary engineers by compiling data, making surveys and inspections and preparing drawings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

Good knowledge of engineering field and survey techniques; good knowledge of techniques, terminology and equipment of drafting; good knowledge of mathematics as applied to engineering; ability to perform moderately difficult surveying and drafting tasks with a high degree of accuracy; ability to perform difficult arithmetic  computations rapidly and accurately; ability to perform sub-professional engineering research and prepare reports; ability to complete designs utilizing a computer (AutoCAD); ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; initiative and resourcefulness; industry; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

Minimum Qualifications:

A.      Graduation from a two (2) year college or technical school with an Associate’s degree in civil engineering or construction technology or completion of 60 semester credit hours of study at a regionally accredited or NYS registered four (4) year college or university leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Sanitary Engineering or graduation from High School and a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in the civil/sanitary engineering field.

Salary Range - $18.26 – $20.34 per hour
