Amherst police have charged a 23- year-old Grand Island man with attempted burglary and other charges following attempted break-ins at three residences in a Henel Avenue apartment complex.
Police responded to a call just before noon Monday from a woman who heard noises outside her apartment and saw someone trying to pry open a door across the hall.
Lt. Michael Camilleri charged Charles Sperrazza, of Baseline Road, with three counts of attempted burglary, plus possession of burglar’s tools and possession of a controlled substance, heroin.
Arraigned before Amherst Town Justice Geoffrey K. Klein, Sperrazza was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 bail.
