LOCKPORT—A Grand Island man who committed five house burglaries in two counties will serve 90 days in jail before going on five years’ probation.

That was the sentence from Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III on Friday for Samar Abdellatif, 21, of East River Road, who pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary. At an earlier sentencing for two Erie County breakins, Judge Thomas P. Fronczyk gave Abdellatif probation but ordered him to complete an inpatient drug treatment program.

Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Seaman said that when one of the Niagara County homeowners heard at an earlier appearance that Murphy was considering probation, he decided not to exercise his right to speak at sentencing because he was so angry.
