Suicide try at bridge causes serious injuries

A suicide attempt early Thursday morning left a 43-year-old Town of Tonawanda man seriously injured after he fell about 80 feet from the southbound South Grand Island Bridge, state police reported.

The man, described as distraught over marital problems, climbed over the railing and fell onto a rock wall next to the Niagara River shortly after 12:45 a. m., state police said

He was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated for facial trauma and a broken leg.
