Grand Island thefts result in three arrests

Updated: 09/03/07 7:15 AM

An alert Grand Island resident helped police catch three burglary suspects early Sunday after spotting them going through his car on Jen Court.

The resident called Erie County sheriff’s deputies and then followed the men after they drove away at about 4:30 a.m. The three stopped at a McDonald’s on Grand Island Boulevard, where they were arrested by deputies, who recovered a palm pilot that was identified by the homeowner.

Deputies also found other suspected stolen property in the trunk and traced some of it to a home on Havenwood Lane that also had been burglarized. Deputies said two of the suspects confessed to both burglaries.

Brian Lazeration, 20, of Baseline Road, Grand Island, and two 16-year-olds were each charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property, deputies said. Other charges are pending. The suspects were taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in Grand Island Town Court.
