July 10

• A security guard from the Rainbow Mall and Family Fun Center in Niagara Falls flagged down city police at 11:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Niagara Street after he had been chasing a man who had been spray-painting graffiti on the wall. The guard said he saw the man throw a black bag away and, when he recovered it, the man tried to push him. Police recovered the bag with two cans of spray paint, rappeling hooks and rope. Police charged Jon Michael Topolski, Jr., age unlisted, of Ransom Road, Grand Island, with making graffiti, possession of graffiti instruments and third-degree assault.
