At 11:15 PM, the Erie County Sheriff's Department finally apprehended a missing fugitive and have him in custody after a bizarre day-long chase.

Multiple law enforcement agencies spent all of Saturday looking for a half-naked fugitive.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies say they searched Grand Island for 27-year-old Mark Pannell, of Buffalo, who at one point was running around in his underwear.

Deputies say they pulled Pannell over for a traffic violation around 8:40 AM on Grand Island Boulevard. That's when deputies say Pannell took off, parked his car near a forested area along Staley and Stoney Point Roads and ran into the woods.

According to Deputies, Pannell was wearing baggy clothes and then stripped down to his underwear as he ran.

Deputies determined after Pannell took off that he was wanted in Buffalo on two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, for possession of marijuana and minor vehicle/traffic offenses.

Local police along with Erie County Sheriffs' deputies, state police and Border Patrol officers conducted surveillance over Grand Island all day, but Pannell managed to stay hidden as the hours passed.

He was spotted with his clothes back on a little after 5PM, but he ran back into the woods.

A little before 11 PM, Pannell was spotted again, this time jumping into the water at Mid-River Marina. Marine Response Units were called in and that was when Pannell was finally apprehended and taken to the Grand Island sub-station.

Deputies say they didn't consider him to be dangerous.
