Deputies still seeking car of slain gunman

Erie County sheriff’s deputies Friday continued to look for the car of Thomas A. Dodge, a Niagara Falls man killed by a deputy late Wednesday after Dodge shot a former girlfriend outside her Grand Island home.

Deputies said they believe Dodge’s gray, four-door 1992 Pontiac Bonneville, which could contain weapons, is on Grand Island. They asked anyone who believes they have spotted it to call 911.

Dodge, 30, had two guns and two pipe bombs when he shot Tami Trottnow, 26, hitting her three times, before he was killed outside her Crescent Road house by Erie County Deputy Thomas Meredith.

A few hours after those shootings, Niagara Falls police entered his apartment at Parkway Condominiums and found a large cache of assault rifles and other weapons, thousands of rounds of ammunition and several pipe bombs. They suspect other weapons may be in his vehicle.

Trottnow was treated in Erie County Medical Center after the shooting and released Thursday.
