An 86-year-old Grand Island man seriously injured in a pair of head-on crashes on the Niagara Thruway in October died Monday in Erie County Medical Center, authorities said today.

Raymond Zoldowski was involved in the two accidents while driving the wrong way on the southbound Niagara Thruway in the Town of Tonawanda, just south of the south Grand Island Bridge, State Police reported.
