   Grand Island High School teacher Bobbie Frisoni and GIHS Teaching Assistant Cheryl Chamberlain co-chaired of a basket raffle to benefit the Corporate Bowl 2006 scholarship funds have announced the winners, drawn on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. They are:

   The final rounds of the GISBA Corporate Bowl 2006 were held Tuesday, March 21st in the Grand Island High School auditorium. A total of seven teams competed in the final rounds to narrow the field to three teams. The three winning teams follow:
First - Remson's Rainbow Quartet - (shown above) Noah Yanicki, Vincent Covatto, Alex Davis and Shannon Farmer
Second - Team BACA - Patrick Sexton, Matthew Huber, Amanda Jaeger and Robert Potter
Third - Team Snodgrass - Forrest Smith, Sarah Mye, Traci Aladeen and Cassie Lange
   The Grand Island School Business Alliance (GISBA), comprised of representatives from the business community, town government, and school district, sponsors the Corporate Bowl, giving students an opportunity to compete for college scholarships. Approximately $7,000 in corporate donations was divided among the winning team members. Individual winners on the first place team received $1000. Individual winners on the second place team received $500 and those on the third place team received $250 each. Corporate Bowl 2006 will be televised on Adelphia Cable Channel 13 as follows:
• Saturday, March 25th - 4 p.m.
• Monday, March 27th - 7:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 28th - 8 p.m.
   Kelly Tanzella served as chairman of this year's corporate Bowl, and Grand Island High School teacher Bobbie Frisoni and GIHS Teaching Assistant Cheryl Chamberlain co-chaired of a basket raffle to benefit the scholarship funds.

   Next Is Final - March 2006
     Basket Raffle Tuesday Night

   Tuesday evening's Corporate Bowl preliminary competition was a very enjoyable event, to say the least. Eighty high school students raced for the opportunity to give answers to some very difficult questions. The members of the 20 competing teams made up of 9th through 12th graders were visibly having a good time regardless of incorrect and sometimes no answers at all. The final rounds should be just as enjoyable to watch. There is no charge to attend.
   The following teams' Corporate Bowl preliminary round scores, garnered Tuesday, March 14th, will move the following students to the final round at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 21st:

   Kelly Tanzella is serving as chairman of this year's corporate Bowl.
   High School teacher Bobbie Frisoni and GIHS Teaching Assistant Cheryl Chamberlain are co-chairs of a basket raffle. The final showing and drawing of the basket raffle, featuring over 50 baskets and certificates donated by many local businesses, will be held Tuesday night, March 21 to benefit Corporate Bowl. Tickets are $5.00 for a sheet of 25 tickets and a door prize ticket.    Tuesday evening's final round will be taped by Adelphia for broadcast later in March.

Corporate Bowl To Award Up To $7000 In Scholarships - 2006

   The Grand Island School Business Alliance, which is comprised of representatives from the business community, town government, and school district, will once again sponsor Corporate Bowl where students will compete for college scholarships.
   This year's competition will feature a record number of 20 teams made up of students in grades 9-12. The first round will be held March 14 with the finals a week later on March 21. Both rounds begin at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium with the finals to be taped by Adelphia for broadast later in March.
   A total of $7000 in scholarships is expected to be awarded. The money for the scholarships was raised through solicitations of Grand Island businesses and organizations as well as off-Island businesses that provide goods or services to the school district. Kelli Tanzella, representing Invitrogen Corporation, is the chairperson for this year’s event.

Raffle At Chili Sale Cancelled

   Grand Island High School students have formed 20 teams to compete in this year’s GISBA Corporate Bowl on March 14 and March 21st in the high school auditorium. An academic challenge, now in its 8th year, the Corporate Bowl allows high school students to compete for college scholarships by answering questions in subjects of English, math, science, history, geography, music, art, current events, sports, and business. These scholarships, sponsored by contributions from area businesses and the addition of a basket raffle event this year, are awarded to the three winning teams.
   Ticket sales for the large, traveling basket raffle will begin on Friday, February 3, 2006 during the Grand Island High School's Honor Society Spaghetti Dinner being held from 5:30-7:15 p.m. (take-out 2:30-3:30 p.m.) at the high school, 1100 Ransom Road, and before the high school's 7:30 p.m. musical, She Loves Me, the same evening.
   The basket raffle scheduled for Saturday, February 4th during the Rotary Club's Chili Sale has been cancelled. The raffle will be displayed at the GI Tops Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 11-12 and in various Isle businesses with those dates soon to be announced.
