Mission:
To practice gardening with the enthusiasm of a true amateur and the understanding of a true student.

Continuing Club projects:
• Maintain foyer garden at Kaegebein Elementary School
• Maintain outdoor garden at Sidway Elementary School
Plant trees in memory of deceased members or spouses.
• Decorate for Christmas at River Lea Historical Site, Beaver Island State Park, Grand Island.
• Members will receive horticultural information at each monthly meeting covering a specific topic.
• Environmental and conservation topics of interest and importance are presented each month.
• Contributions are made to Figure 8 and Grand Island Historical Society. Orientation of New Members.
• As new members join, they will be given an orientation period to inform them about community projects and floral design.
• The committee will give several lessons in basic floral design for home and flower shows.
• History Project - The club officers will continue an organized archiving of the East Park Garden Club’s 55 years of history for posterity.
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP DUTIES
Each Member Must:
Have a garden and work in it.
Be willing to hold elected and appointed offices.
Actively participate in Flower Shows.
Participate in the monthly program as scheduled in the yearbook.
Be willing to serve as hostess for at least one meeting per year. The hostess shall prepare and serve refreshments, and create a table arrangement.
In addition, the hostess shall care for the Kaegebein Garden for that assigned month.
Gather knowledge and share with members.
Encourage members to attend scheduled group tours.

East Park Garden Club Christmas Party And Election - December 2006

   Members of the East Park Garden Club will hold their Annual Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 in the Buffalo Launch Club, 503 East River Rd. The party begins at 6 p.m. with punch, followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner. Election of Officers will take place. Those attending are asked to bring a $10/$15 wrapped gift. East Park Garden Club News - Feb. 2005


   Co-chairpersons Adele Sommer and Paula Phillips, with their committee, participated in the December 2004 decorating of River Lea for the holidays. East Park Garden Club's designated room was the dining room. The annual holiday party was held at the Buffalo Launch Club and Club members exchanged gifts. Carols were sung and a good time was had by all.
   "We took the month of January off to recuperate from all the frolic and celebrating! In February we are having a Pot Luck Supper at Marie Leonard's home," an East Park member said this week.
   March will ring in the Club's installation dinner, planned for the Buffalo Launch Club on March 8, 2005 when service awards will be presented, yearbooks will be distributed, 2004 accomplishments will be reviewing and the announcement of 2005 projects will be made.

   East Park Garden Club members have designed and planted a small, low-maintenance garden in the playground area of the Charlotte Sidway Elementary School on Baseline Road, Grand Island. A plaque has been erected as a lasting momento of the club’s fifty years, and honors the memory of Hazel Link, a beloved member of the East Park Garden Club and a lifetime member of the Sidway School P.T.A.
   A dedication ceremony for the “garden for all seasons” was held Wednesday, October 15, 2003. Among those attending were town and school officials, East Garden Club members, Sidway School students, and members of Mrs. Link's family including her great grandchildren.
   The project was financed through the generosity of civic minded individuals and groups including Anthony and Diana Borowicz, Jeffery and Theresa Burford, Claudia Casseday, David and Jennifer Dzielski, Joy Killian, Dr. Thomas and Diane Kowalak, Michael and Leslie Madigan, Gretchen Williams, Contractors Welding of WNY Inc., Eighth District Federated Garden Clubs of New York, Fuccillo Chevrolet, Inc., Rockwood Brothers Collision, Inc., the Rotary Club of Grand Island, Sam Long’s Landscaping, the Sidway P.T.A., Soft and Shine of Grand Island, Super Gas of Grand Island, and Wheelfind of Grand Island. Also, special thanks go to Dan Drexilius (Double D Construction) for donation of materials and service; Joseph Fusco and William Dyet for support and assistance; and Fay Rech for donation of the statue and base in memory of the late Dean Rech.
   The East Park Garden Club is committed to advancing the art of gardening, horticulture, landscape design and flower arranging, and to arousing public interest in conserving the natural beauty and resources of Grand Island and New York State.
   Other projects of the club include the construction and maintenance of the foyer garden at Kaegebein Elementary School, construction and maintenance of the garden at the Blue Star Memorial marker (north-bound South Grand Island Bridge), the planting of trees in memory of deceased members or spouses, and participation in the annual Christmas celebration at the River Lea Historical Site at the tip of Beaver Island State Park. The co-chairs for the Charlotte Sidway School Children’s Garden are Fran Fusco, Anne Dyet, and Krista DiCarlo.




East Park Garden Club Presents Flower Show 2002
   Members of the East Park Garden Club are sponsoring a Standard Flower Show, "Proud Past, Bright Future," at Historic Trinity on Whitehaven Road, on Saturday, June 29, 2002 from 12-5 p.m. and Sunday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show, a Sesquicentennial event, is based on the book by Rob Roy Macleod, Cinderella Isle and will be judged by accredited National Council Garden Club Judges.
   Judging of the 41 classes will begin on Saturday, June 29th at 9:30am. In the horticulture division, all entries must have been grown by the exhibitor, depending by species, anywhere from six weeks to three months prior to the show. The design division is different in that the exhibitor does not need to grow the plant material, but nothing artificial is permitted.
   The East Park Garden Club was formed in 1950 and became a member of the National Council of Garden Clubs in 1953.

   Members of the East Park Garden Club met at River Oaks, March 25, 2002 to recognize long time members, receive a State of the Union Report from outgoing President Fran Fusco, and install the new slate of officers for the coming year.
   Norma Dowd, 8th District Director of FGCNYS installed the officers. New president Marie Leonard spoke to the group and the Yearbook was distributed to the members.
   East Park Garden Club will have an accredited Flower Show June 29-30, 2002 at Trinity Historic Church, in conjunction with the town's Sesquicentennial celebration. In addition, the club will be creating a Bird and Butterfly Garden at Sidway, this Spring, recognizing Hazel Link who was a long time member of the Club and a life member of the Sidway PTA. This will also commemorate 50 years as a Community organization.



East Park Garden Club To Meet (June 12, 2001)
   The East Park Garden Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 12, 2001 at St. Martin-in-the Fields Church. Following a brief business meeting, a program, "Treasures of the Field," will be presented by Dorothy Julius, owner of Along Garden's Path Dried Flower Design. Hostesses are Anne Dyet and Lorraine Patterson.
