Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary Officers Announced - 2007

    The Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company announced new officers for 2007 at a dinner meeting on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in Fire Headquarters. Newly elected president is Jennifer Pullano. Other officers are Vice President Nicole Butcher, Secretary Kristine Koch, Corresponding Secretary Danielle Soluri, Treasurer Danielle Soluri, Trustees Barbara Wilson, Teddy Linenfelser and Heather Aronica, Sgt.-At-Arms Sandy Krecisz and Chaplain Arlene Soluri. The Auxiliary officers were installed during a Fire Company dinner on Saturday, January 13, 2007.

   The Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company marked its 67th anniversary with a dinner in Fire Headquarters Saturday evening, September 16, 2006. Arrangements for the Picnic BBQ themed dinner, attended by 50 members and Fire Company officials, were made by President Nicole Butcher, Secretary Kristine Koch, Vice President Jennifer Pullano, Sandy Krecisz and Sue Braun. The dinner committee is most appreciative of Connor Middle School 7th grader, Ashley Gorman, daughter of Fire Company officers Paul and Tammy Gorman, for her help with the arrangements throughout the day.
   First to be recognized for her years of contributions to the Auxiliary was Charter Member Elsie Fleischmann. Also recognized for their milestone memberships were the following:

Teddy Linenfelser - 40 years
Nicole Butcher – 5 years
Jennifer Pullano – 5 years
Karen Wright – 5 years
   Not in attendance were Nancy Weis (30 years) and Brooke Raham (25 years).
   The Ladies Auxiliary's Annual Fall Chowder and Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2006.

Fire Company Ladies To Hold Annual Chowder/Baked Goods Sale - 2006

   Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company will hold their annual Fall Chowder and Baked Goods Sale Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Fire Headquarters, 2275 Baseline Road. Fresh home-baked goods and chowder will be sold at "about" 11 a.m. or when the chowder is ready. An added feature will be a basket raffle.
   Chowder will be available by the bowl ($1) or in bulk at $4 per quart to those bringing containers. Containers will also be available for take-out.
   Cookbooks, containing numerous recipes submitted by Grand Island Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary members, their friends and families, will be available at a reduced price of $8 or two for $12. Tickets for a 50/50 drawing taking place that day are available from Auxiliary members.





Fire Company Auxiliary Holds Successful Flea Market - 2006

   The Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company hosted a flea market and craft sale on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Fire Headquarters on Baseline Road. Ellen McDougal was the winning of $100 in the 50/50 split raffle. Profits from the table rentals, 50-50 raffle and hot dog sales will be used to assist the Fire Company. Vicki Sadkowski was chairman of the event.




Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary To Hold Flea Market & Craft Show
Reserve Tables Now - 2006

   Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company will a hold Flea Market & Craft Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006. Table rentals ($15/8 ft. table) are available for flea market items and/or craft displays. The sale will be held rain or shine at Grand Island Fire Headquarters, 2275 Baseline Road, Grand Island, New York, and a large shopping crowd is expected.
   Hot dogs, chips and beverages will be available.

   Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company held a very successful fall chowder and baked goods sale on Saturday, October 22, 2005. Hundreds of Islanders turned out to buy chowder in kettles and containers as well as plastic containers provided by the Auxiliary. There was a constant crowd around the tables set up in the truck house at Fire Headquarters in the center of the Island for both soup eating and conversation.
   The 50/50 split drawing was won by Robert Belstadt. The winning ticket was drawn by Kristyn Taylor Brown, 4, daughter of Auxiliary member Danielle Soluri.
   A limited amount of chowder is still available in quart containers (frozen) at $3 a quart. For more information, call Nicole Butcher, 773-1685.

   Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company and their guests attended the organization's 66th anniversary celebration, highlighted with a Fiesta theme. The dinner, also attended by Fire Company officials, was held in Fire Headquarters Saturday evening, September 10, 2005.
   Elsie Fleischmann, a charter member who helped form the Ladies Auxiliary in 1939, was recognized for her 66 years of mostly active membership. Also recognized were Rita Hagerman for attaining her 35-year membership, Marianne Christensen for 15 years and Lisa Koch for five years. Barbara Peck, a 45-year member and thirty-year member Dorothy Lovelee were unable to attend.
   Dinner arrangements were made by Nicole Butcher, Jennifer Pullano, Kristine Koch and Lisa Mrkall.

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company will hold their Fall Chowder and Baked Goods Sale Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Fire Headquarters, 2275 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY. The Auxiliary is asking the community to support its food drive by donating a non-perishable food item to benefit the Grand Island Neighbors Foundation.

Members and guests of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company celebrated their 65th anniversary in Fire Headquarters Saturday evening, September 11, 2004. Charter member Elsie Fleischmann was in attendance and received recognition as a charter member of the organization formed in September 1939 for the purpose of assisting the Fire Company. Also recognized were Dorothy Ahern and Bernie Huff for attaining their 50-year membership. Julie Meyer received her 25-year membership certificate. Unable to attend were Darcey Golde (25 years) and Alma McTigue (50 years). A catered dinner with a Hawaiian theme was chaired by Auxiliary members Arlene Soluri and Danielle Soluri.

Members and guests of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company celebrated the organization's 64th anniversary in Fire Headquarters Saturday evening. A toga party theme featuring Greek food and the music of Steve Parisi was chaired by Arlene Soluri and her daughter Danielle Soluri. Recognized for milestone memberships was Barbara Anderson who joined the Auxiliary 40 years ago. Mary Becker, who was not able to attend, was also recognized for 40 years service to the Auxiliary.

Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary January Meeting Date Changed - 2002

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company will meet Wednesday, January 15, 2003 beginning at 6:30 p.m. An installation dinner will precede the meeting and installation of officers for 2003. The date has been changed from the second Wednesday to the third for January only.

The Grand Island Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary celebrated the 63rd anniversary of its founding on Saturday, September 14, 2002 in Fire Headquarters. President Nicole Butcher was in charge of arrangements and assisted by Auxiliary Treasurer Lisa Mrkall, and Jennifer Pullano. The dinner, with a 50s theme, was preceded by the presentation of Life Member pins (20 years service) to Nancy Amato and Arlene Soluri and recognition of milestones in the Auxiliary to the following members: Val Gardner (50 years), Elsie Fleischmann (charter member), Fay Wood (45 years), Barb Wilson (15 years) and Bernice Dinsmore (10 years). Joan Wohlfeil and Nancy Weis, recognized for 35 years and 25 years respectively, were unable to attend.

   Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grand Island Fire Company met Wednesday, January 9, 2002 in Fire Headquarters for dinner and the installation of officers for the coming year.
   President Nicole Butcher, Vice President Sue McMahon, Treasurer Lisa Mrkall, Recording Secretary Sue Braun, Corresponding Secretary Teddy Linenfelser, and Trustees Brooke Raham, Barbara Wilson and Nancy Amato were installed in a candlelight ceremony by retiring Trustee Julie Meyer.
   The dinner was chaired by Mrs. Wilson and Arlene Soluri.

The Grand Island Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary presented another fine chowder sale last Saturday (Apr. 28, 2001). Needless to say, the men of the company were assisting in the cooking of the bubbling creation in the outside kettles. Inside the main truck house the ladies were quickly selling the brew by the bowl, by the quart or however the buyer wanted. Baked goodes were available as were a selection of great knives being sold by the Ladies on an ongoing basis. For more information on the knives contact Sue McMahon at 773-9376.
