Knights Offer Homemade Chicken & Biscuits - November 2009

   The Knights of Columbus will offer Homemade CHicken & Biscuits from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1841 Whiteahven Road. Cost is adults/$8, seniors/$7, kids under 12/$3. Take outs will be available at the door.




Knights Host Master Gardener - October 2009

   The Knights of Columbus will host guest lecturer, Michael Klepp, a master gardener, certified nursery and landscaping professional and horticulturist on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 8:15 p.m. Mr. Klepp will present the topic, "Autumn in the Garden." This lecture will cover issues in Fall planting and lawn care, winterizing your gardens and lawn, watering and composting. Michael will also answer any questions and concerns you may have regarding any other aspect of landscaping and gardening. The lecture will be held at 1841 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island, New York 14072 and is open to the public. Any questions, contact Todd Schiffmacher at 773-1401.


Mary Star of the Sea Council #4752 – 50th Anniversary - September 2009

   After a year of planning the Council 50th Anniversary weekend is finally here.
   Friday, Oct. 2 - From 7-9 PM there will be Special 1959 prices for all to enjoy along with the great company of many out of town members. Hot and cold Hors d'oeuve will be served. Come down with friends and family relax and have fun. Members and the public are invited.
   Sat., Oct. 3 - We begin with 4:30 PM Mass at St. Stephen. All Knights and wives are asked to assemble by 4:15 PM for the procession together into church. The dinner and program follows at the hall. Music and dancing will follow the program. ( Note that the dinner is sold out).
   Sun., Oct. 4 - The hall will open at 1:00 PM for an Open House to all members and the Public. All historical information collected about the Council and its membership will be on display. At 4:00 PM the TV will be on for all to stay and watch the Bills play Miami. Chris Mongielo and her team will have the Kitchen open for food from game start thru half time.. Refreshments will be available. Bring a friend to enjoy the game.
   The committee wishes to thank all who have helped make this a success.




Knights Host Fun Event - Community Invited - July 25, 2009

    Grand Island Knights of Columbus will sponsor an event with a portion of the proceeds to benefit The Lions Club Special Kids Picnic. The event will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Knights Hall, 1841 Whitehaven Road. See Chicken BBQ/Music & Dancing. for details




Knights To Celebrate 50th Anniversary - Community Invited - June 2009

   Members of the Grand Island Knights of Columbus will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the K of C over the weekend of October 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2009. Upcoming celebration information will be posted at Isledegrande.com as it becomes available. "We would like to invite all of you to come join us," a spokesman for the Knights said this week. Those interested in placing an ad or personal message in the Anniversary Patron's Book are asked to call either William Gworek (773-2784) or Joe Diebold (773-1196).

Clothing, Household Goods Collected - May 2009

   The Nicaragua Mission Collection of lightweight clothing and household goods will take place Thursday, May 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1841 Whitehaven Road beginning 10 a.m. Ann Marie Zon will bring her truck at 6 p.m. for loading and will then speak about the Nicaraguan Mission. "God bless you for your support!"




Knights Scrap Metal Drop-Off - May 2009

   Members of the Knights of Columbus are promoting their scrap metal drop-off event between May 8th and May 18th at the Knights of Columbus Mary Star of The Sea Council No. 4752, 1841 Whitehaven Road. "Please do not drop off old/used computers, hazardous materials, paint cans or toxic substances."




Knights to Host St. Pat's Day Dinner - 2009

   Members of the Knights of Columbus will be serving a St. Patrick's Day Dinner of corned beef with all the trimmings on Saturday, March 28 in the Knights Hall, 1841 Whitehaven Road. Cash bar will be available and entertainment by the McCarthy Irish Dancers will be featured. Price is $15.00 per person.




Knights to Host Chicken and Biscuits Dinner - 2009

   The Charity Committee of the Knights of Columbus will host a Chicken and Biscuits dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. (or until we run out) on Wednesday, March 18. Cost is $7/Adult; $6/Seniors; $3/kids. Dinner includes homemade chicken and gravy over a warm biscuit, green beans, homemade dessert and soft drink.



Knights to Host Pancake Breakfast At St. Stephen's - 2009

   The Knights of Columbus will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at St. Stephen’s Cafeteria. Cost is $6 adults; $3 for kids 6-12 and under 6 is free. The Knights will serve pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee/tea.




Lecture Program at the Knights of Columbus Open to the Public - 2009

   A Lecture Program will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall, 1841 Whitehaven Rd. at 8:30 p.m. April 16, 2009. This month the guest speaker is Terry Rose, P.T., M.S., D.P.T. is the director of Rehabilitation and Cardiology Services at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He is also a member of the Niagara Cerebral Palsy Association Medical Directors Board and the American Physical Therapy Association. His topic will cover Preventing slips, trips & falls, ergonomics and injury prevention. The program will take approximately 45 minutes and will conclude with a question and answer session. This program is open to all Knights of Columbus members, their families, friends and the Grand Island Community.




Knights To Celebrate 50th Anniversary - 2009

   Members of the Mary Star of The Sea Council 4752 Knights of Columbus, in 2009, will celebrate their Golden 50th Anniversary. This will be a special event for the Council membership. Planning started last year with the hope not to conflict with other church and community events. The membership has set the dates for this celebration weekend early. The weekend of October 2, 3 and 4, 2009 is scheduled. Tentative plans include a welcoming get together on Friday night, a formal dinner dance on Saturday and an open house on Sunday. Details are still being worked out.
   "We are hopeful that Church, Town and Community representation will be strong for this celebration," Chairman William L. Gworek Sr., PGK, said this week. "Please mark these dates on your organization's 2009 calendar and plan on celebrating with us," he said.
