Spring Session Toddler Time Lapsit - 2008
The Spring Session of the Toddler Time Lapsit at the Grand Island Memorial Library features stories, songs and fingerplays for children 18 months to 3 years old. Each child must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Children must be 18 months old by May 14, 2008. The program will be held on Wednesday mornings, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. beginning on May 14, 2008. Registration begins on Wednesday, April 30th at 9:00 a.m. For more information, or to register, call 773-7124, or sign up at the library.

Children Enjoy April Library Program - 2008

   Thirteen children enjoyed a presentation on Saturday, April 19th by Explore & More, a children's museum where they learned about the craft of felting. The children created their own rainforest snakes and children's librarian, Anne Slater, talked about the importance of Earth Day and read the book, If I Ran the Rainforest by Theodore Geisel. The program was funded by the Friends of the Grand Island Memorial Library.

Spring Session Preschool Story Hour - 2008
   The Spring Session of the Preschool Story Hour at the Grand Island Memorial Library will be held on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning on April 28, 2008. Weekly programs of stories, songs, crafts and games are open to children ages 3 to 5 years old. Children MUST be 3 years of age before April 28, 2008. Registration begins on Wednesday, April 16th at 9:00 a.m. Please call 773-7124, or sign up at the library and specify which day you prefer.

Adult Computer Class At Library - 2008
   The Grand Island Memorial Library will present a series of Adult Computer Classes.
Classes follow:
Library Catalog and Databases – Friday, April 25 - 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Basic Internet – Friday, May 2 - 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Email – Friday, May 9 - 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
   Space is limited and registration is required for this adults only program. Registration begins Tuesday, April 1, 2008. To register or for more information, call 773-7124, or sign up at the library.

Library Is Scene Of Easter Egg Decorating Program - 2008

   Approximately 17 children ranging from kindergarten to grade 5 took part in the Easter Egg Decorating Program at the Grand Island Memorial Library Community Room on Saturday, March 22, 2008. The children decorated eggs and made Easter cards and an Easter craft. Funding for the program was provided by the Friends of the Grand Island Memorial Library through their book sale.

National Library Week At Library - 2008
   Celebrate National Library Week at the Grand Island Memorial Library. Explore & More will present Fuzzy Felted Rainforest Snakes for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Registration begins on Tuesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. For more information or to register, call 773-7124 or sign up at the library. This program is funded by the Friends of the Grand Island Memorial Library.

   The Grand Island Memorial Library will be closed Friday, March 21, 2008 in observance of Good Friday.
The library is open weekly:
Monday 10:00 – 9:00
Tuesday 10:00 – 9:00
Wednesday 10:00 – 5:00
Thursday 1:00 – 9:00
Good Friday CLOSED
Saturday 10:00 – 5:00
The library is closed on Sunday.

Egg Decorating At Library - 2008
    There will be a special program for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 at the Grand Island Memorial Library. Easter Egg Decorating will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Participants should bring 4 to 5 hard boiled eggs for decorating. Registration begins Wednesday, March 5th at 9:00 a.m. To register or for more information, call 773-7124, or sign up at the library.

The Grand Island Memorial Library is pleased to announce new hours. Beginning February 1, 2008, the library will be open on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 9:00 p.m. The new schedule of hours will be:

Library Closed Monday, Martin Luther King Day - 2008
The Grand Island Memorial Library will be closed Monday, January 21, 2008, in observance of Martin Luther King Day. The remainder of the week the library will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday. The library is closed on Friday and Sunday.
