Sidway PTA Awards Two Honorary Life Memberships - June 2010

Sidway PTA president Trish Eichel (left) and school bus driver Nancy Heftka have been awarded PTA Honorary Life memberships in recognition of their service and dedication to the welfare of children and youth. The awards were presented at the Sidway staff-appreciation luncheon this spring. Sidway PTA’s contribution for the award helps support the NYS PTA Twin Projects, which award scholarships to deserving high school seniors and summer study grants to teachers. During her years as a Sidway parent Trish Eichel not only served in a leadership capacity, but was always available to help with committee activities, school programs, and to lend a hand where needed by school staff. Following the crash of her school bus earlier this year, Nancy Heftka, though injured herself, thought first of her students, making sure they were all right, reassuring them and helping them. She even returned, although not completely recovered, to reassure her riders that she would be fine.
