Relay For Life Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser - April 2018

Relay for Life Event planned at Mary Star of the Sea Council, 1841 Whitehaven Road, Saturday, May 5, 2018.
Maureen Tyson, this year's Grand Island Relay for Life feature survivor, has announced a fundraising event at the Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council 4752. The theme of this event will be Cinco de Mayo and will be held on May 5th at the Knights of Columbus hall at 1841 Whitehaven Road from 6:30pm until 10pm. Mark Tyson, co-chairperson for this fundraiser exclaimed, "...we are so honored and excited that Relay For Life has chosen Mo to be the featured survivor! Her faith and positive attitude never waivered during her battle. She NEVER gave up hope. Dannie and I are so lucky to share her love everyday!" Mark went on to explain that the event will feature: a basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle, a wagon of spirits raffle, a cash bar and euchre tournament. There will also be an al la carte taco bar for a minimal donation.
"The only way to fight this horrible disease is through events like this," noted co-chairperson Amanda Karnath. She continued by declaring, "We all know someone affected by cancer ...please consider helping Mo on her campaign to make cancer go away for good! Please consider joining us and donating a Basket and/or a bottle of spirits." Donations can be made by contacting dharhen@roadrunner.com or moetyson62@yahoo.com.

Again this year the Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council 4752 will collect baby items in support of the 9th Annual United Community Way Baby Shower. This community-wide effort to collect essential baby items will help at-risk mothers to give their newborns a stronger start, giving the supplies and support needed for a healthy beginning. "This effort is wholly consistent with the Knights of Columbus commitment to the "Right for Life" for every living being," stated Grand Knight Sean Carroll. David Forster, Charitable Committee Chairperson invites the community to drop off their donations at the Mary Star of the Sea Hall located at 1841 Whitehaven Drive, Grand Island, NY on April 27th from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. "I truly hope the Grand Island community will join us in support for this worthy cause. Any donation that would be useful for a newborn would be greatly appreciated. Specifically: diapers, baby wipes, sleepsacks, digital thermometers. Gift cards and cash donations are always gratefully accepted as well," noted David Forster.
