Hosting Family Justice Center Director - October 2017
Did you know that Grand Island has the highest incidence of family violence in Western New York? The Family Justice Center is a one stop shop where victims of family violence can go to get help for any problem he/she is coping with. The Family Justice Center is hoping to open a satellite on Grand Island. Island Presbyterian Church. 1822 Huth Road, is hosting Mary Travers Murphy, the current executive director of the Family Justice Center, on Sunday, October 8th at 10:30 a.m. Please come and hear how you can help get this satellite and help put an end to family violence. World Day of Prayer - February 2016
Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 4, 2016. This year, the women of the WDP Committee of Cuba call us into worship considering the words "Receive children, receive me." With these words as backdrop, we are invited to learn about Cuba's history and rich cultural diversity. The women of Cuba share their stories of faith, tradition, and intergenerational wisdom. Through the worship service, we learn of Jesus' profound teaching of acceptance as he says, "Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs" (Mk. 10:14–15).This year's service will be held on Friday, March 4, 10:00 a.m., at Island Presbyterian Church, 1822 Huth Road, across the street from Huth Road School. Women and men from churches all over the Island will be participating, and special guests from Cuba will be the speakers. All are invited to join us for refreshments in fellowship hall after the service and sample foods from Cuba. The building is handicap accessible and child care is available.
Invite your friends, family, and communities of faith to join the women of Cuba in prayer and song to support ecumenical efforts toward justice, peace, healing, and wholeness. The annual offering supports the work of World Day of Prayer USA and helps meet the needs of families in Cuba and around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence, and injustice. World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. World Day of Prayer was founded in 1920 on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the service of God's realm. Each year a different country's committee serves as writers of the worship service. Services begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on the day of celebration.
Island Presbyterian Community Thanksgiving Dinner - November 2015
The Island Presbyterian Church will host thier Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 26th, promptly at 1:00 p.m. The cost is free and includes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, vegetables, drinks and dessert, along with good fellowship. If you have a favorite dish to share, please do so, but it is not required. Please RSVP by November 19th to 773-6374. Volunteers are needed to help prepare, serve and clean up, call 773-6374.

Island Presbyterian Church, 1822 Huth Road is hosting a Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 28th at 1:00 p.m.
The cost is FREE and includes, turkey, potatoes, gravy, dressing, vegetables, drinks and dessert. Good fellowship will be provided. If you have a favorite dish to share, please feel free to do so. It is not required. Please call by November 24th for reservations and if you are interested in volunteering in preparation or service call 773-6374.
