Successful GIAA Comedy Show - 2012

The Grand Island Alumni Association held its 5th Annual Comedy Show on Saturday, January 28th. Money raised at this event goes to scholarships for Grand Island High School seniors. A total of 14 scholarships have been awarded in the past 5 years. The Grand Island Alumni Assoc. 5th Annual Comedy show is planned for Saturday, January 28th at the Holiday Inn Grand Island. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with the GIHS Jazz Ensemble performing before the comedy show begins at 8:00 p.m. The main sponsor is Aceti's Wine and Spirits and Woodchuck Tree Service and Fuccillo Auto Group are Gold sponsors. Tickets are available for $15.00 at DeSignet Jewelry Store, 1869 Whitehaven Rd. and at the door of the event. The Grand Island Alumni Association is pleased to announce this year's scholarship winners. They are Liam Dodd, Justine Call and Alex Prine. Liam will be attending SUNY College at Brockport, majoring in Sports Management. Justine is attending Ithaca College majoring in Music Performance/Education and Alex is attending Houghton College majoring in Music Education/Vocal Performance. Each senior received a $500 scholarship to help towards their college expenses. The GIAA awards scholarships to GIHS seniors who demonstrate school spirit, involvement in school and community activities and need. The GIAA 4th Annual Comedy show was big on laughs with comedian Dan Pordum back behind the mike. Dan, along with Tim Joyce had everyone in fine spirits. The show's great turn-out will enable 2-3 seniors a scholarship from the GIAA to help with their expenses. Dan Pordum returns to this years comedy show.
The Grand Island Alumni Association will host its 4th Annual Comedy Night on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Grand Island. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the comedy show runs from 8:30-10:00 p.m. and will feature Dan Pordum from the 2009 show and two other comedians. Sean will be attending Alfred State and Michael will be attending NCCC. Each senior received a $500 scholarship to help towards their college expenses.
