The Grand Island Rotary Club is having their Undie Sunday fundraiser from January 24th - February 8th. To donate, look for the red hampers around town and donate new packaged underwear, leggings & socks for men, women & children, to be sent to local missions.
The Falconwood at Beaver Island is hosting a Valentine's "Cupid's Lounge" on Friday February 13th. See Details and ticket information.

The Golden Age Center is collecting trial sized or hotel shampoos, conditioners, bath/shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes that they use to pack toiletry bags for Friends of Night People. Donations can be dropped off during operating hours Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., 3278 Whitehaven Road.
Alzheimer's & Dementia Caregivers Support Meeting is at Bible Fellowship Center, 1135 Baseline Road on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. - noon. For information call Jim Pinckney (321-439-6028) or Mary Pinckney (352-217-2311).

The Grand Island Board of Education has officially begun the school budget planning process for the 2026–2027 academic year. As part of this annual process, the Board is encouraging District residents to take an active role by attending public budget meetings and learning more about the District’s operations and educational programs. GI Historical Society President Curt Nestark is researching the Edgewater Hotel and amusement park that was once located on East River Road between Edgewater and Kirkwood drives. William E. Voetsch purchased the farm land in 1886 and it was a park until the 1940's. It was a restaurant in the 1950's and 1960's, and eventually collapsed in the early 1970's due to neglect.
