The Grand Island welcome signs located at the Grand Island Blvd. entrance from the south bridge, and at the Long Road exit at the north end, were renovated a few years ago by the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce and the GI Economic Development Advisory Board. Recently, the American Legion #1346 added their emblem to the signs that recognizes many of the service clubs of Grand Island. The American Legion supports not only veterans but our community in many ways. This year, two scholarships were presented to high school seniors. The flagpole is a gift from the Legionnaires to the children who will utilize Miracle Field in future years. We thank the efforts of the many organizers and volunteers including the Buffalo Sabres Alumni, Lions Club, Town of Grand Island who are working to make this much needed facility a reality.
