Recreation Department Fishing Clinics - May 2022

The GI Recreation Department is excited to announce two upcoming fishing clinics to help get you ready for the summer fishing season and beyond. These clinics are run by Grand Island resident and owner of River Master Charters, Captain Ted Kessler. Registration is open now! Pre-Registration is required. See FLYER.
    1 Day Clinic - Thursday, May 5, 6:00-7:30 p.m. - Community Center at Nike Base - FREE!
Our 1 day fishing clinic is for participants of all ages (please note, anyone 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older). It will feature equipment selection, fishing techniques and other tips and tricks and time to pick the brain of Captain Ted. This is a great opportunity whether you're just learning to fish or have been fishing for a while and are looking to fine tune your skills.

2 Day Youth Clinic - May 18 AND May 19 - 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Community Center at Nike Base (first day); second day is shore fishing (location TBD). $10.00 res.; $20.00 non-res.
Our 2 day youth clinic is for children ages 8-17 years old. We will start with instruction, tips, tricks and casting practice at the Community Center. The second day will be fishing from shore at a location that Captain Ted selects on Grand Island. The location will be given at the first class. This class is run by Captain Ted and supported with Recreation Department staff.

Important: NYS DEC Regulations - anyone 16 or older must have a valid NYS fishing license. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Town Hall or most sporting goods stores.
