10th Anniversary of MOG - October 2015

Press Release...Thursday, October 1, 2015 -MOG "Open House" October 8-17th.
The MOG (Medically Oriented Gym) is pleased to announce its 10th year of service to the Town of Grand Island. The MOG is a health and fitness club located at 1801 Grand Island Boulevard. If you think of exercise as deposits into an account, every time you exercise you create “exercise credit”. When you catch a cold, the flu or God forbid something more threatening, you will be able to withdraw these credits to assist you in returning to good health. Even better than that however, if you build an account full of exercise credits and you rarely use them, you will be able to cash these in slowly as you age gracefully and maintain a long and fulfilling life.
The mission of the MOG is to provide exercise and lifestyle management services to improve your health. It appeals to both the healthy motivated population and also to those with medical diagnosis that have proven to respond favorably to exercise. The MOG collaborates with your Primary Care Physician and provides nutrition expertise, group training and personal training services to enhance your fitness level.
As part of our celebration we will be holding an open house to all residents of Grand Island or anybody working here that would like to experience the MOG. The OPEN HOUSE will be held October 8-17th. Anybody with an interest in maintaining or improving their health is welcome to stop in, use our facility and speak to our professionally trained staff.

New Multi-Specialty Medical Center - June 2015

Family and adolescent medicine, specialty surgical care and psychiatric services will soon be available at a single Grand Island location, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center recently announced. The doors will open Monday, June 29, at Memorial's new Grand Island Primary Care Center, 2608 Grand Island Blvd., adjacent to Rocky's Island Pizza. The new center will be a multi-specialty center that will introduce care by a number of board certified specialists over the next few months. "This new Grand Island Primary Care Center fulfills our vision for bringing a more extensive selection of high demand medical services to the residents of Grand Island and surrounding communities," said Memorial President & CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo.
Originally located on Grand Island, the Grand Island Primary Care Center temporarily moved to Memorial's North Tonawanda outpatient site in late 2014 as the medical center secured and sought regulatory approval for a modern, expanded Grand Island facility. When the new facility opens June 29, Dr. Willard Ruth and Dr. Rosalind Nolan Sulaiman will move their practice back to Grand Island for the provision of family medicine, internal medicine and adolescent care. "The scope of available care will then increase dramatically during the coming months," said Memorial Vice President, Service Line Operations Sanjay Chadha.
Surgeons Bala Thatigotla, M.D., M.R.C.S., and Vikram Vattipally, M.D., M.R.C.S., will begin holding Grand Island office hours this summer. Dr. Bala, as he is known, and Dr. Vattipally specialize in minimally invasive general, laparoscopic, robotic and bariatric surgery as well as complex hernia and abdominal reconstruction surgeries. "Introducing these specialists will make board certified, fellowship trained surgeons readily accessible to those who live and work on Grand Island," Chadha said. "This is a big win for the community."
Also joining the staff in late summer at the Grand Island Primary Care Center will be two new psychiatric care providers: Dr. Lauren Uslinov and board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Vivian Gerard. Dr. Uslinov is a former chief resident of the Hennepin County Medical Center-Regions Hospital Psychiatry Training Program in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. Gerard, a graduate of the SUNY Buffalo School of Nursing and a licensed clinical social worker, has worked for Lakeshore Behavioral Health and the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Health and is a former director of outpatient treatment at Northpointe Council, Inc. "More and more we are seeing the advantages of integrating primary care with health services such as those to be offered by Dr. Uslinov and Ms. Gerard," Chadha said. "Providing care in a holistic fashion helps people live longer, healthier lives and we are very pleased to be bringing this level of care to Grand Island."

Island Veterinarian Has Game-Changing Technology - April 2015

Local Veterinarian Brings Game-Changing Medical Imaging Technology to WNY Pets.
Mobile PAWS, PLLC making advanced diagnostic imaging services locally available.
   Grand Island, NY
- A new company launched by local veterinarian Dr. Melissa L. Mroziak aims to provide high-tech and safer imaging technology to the region that, until now, was not readily available in Buffalo/Niagara veterinary clinics. Mobile PAWS (Partner for Animal WellnesS), PLLC, a mobile veterinary imaging company, has recently invested in Vimago CT, a high-definition, robotically controlled CT unit, which was designed specifically for the veterinary market.
Vimago HDCT, is the latest innovation in the field of diagnostic imaging for veterinarians and is game changing on many levels:
  • It's a portable unit that can be moved with relative ease within or outside of many veterinary practice.
  • Vimago uses 60-90% less radiation than standard CT, making it a considerably safer option for pets and the veterinarians and technicians who are caring for them.
  • The unit features onboard 3D rendering software can create a three-dimensional view inside of the patient, providing exceptional resolution and detail that goes well beyond other devices in the same category.
  • The device can scan giant breed dogs (up to 200 lbs), a challenge which exists with other imaging units.
As with most new technologies and advanced imaging systems, equipment like this can be expensive and often cost-prohibitive for many veterinary practices. Prior to August 2014, pet owners have had to travel (at minimum to Rochester) to receive advanced imaging for their pet. Mobile PAWS can provide this technology to any requesting veterinarian with a patient in need, saving the client time, hassle and gas money, while providing pets a safer method of obtaining CT images. In situations where the veterinary clinic is unable to accommodate the unit due to the floor plan, patients may be referred to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic at 4821 Genesee St., Cheektowaga (or another selected suitable site) where a scan may be completed.

NRD Launches New Precision Weighing Website - March 2015

Grand Island, NY... Responsive Design, Intuitive layout and Convenient E-Commerce Shopping Cart.
NRD LLC, one of the world's largest and most experienced manufacturers of ionization devices and static eliminators, is pleased to announce the launch of their new website www.nrdprecisionweigh.com featuring static elimination products designed specifically for laboratory use in precision weighing applications.
While NRD has long been recognized as a world leader in static elimination in the industrial marketplace, there has been a void for similar products designed for the unique challenges of the precision weighing field. Static charge can have a significant, detrimental impact on outcomes when precise measurements are critical. With the development of NRD's precision weighing products, this void has been addressed. The new Precision Weighing website features a complete product line of both Alpha and Corona ionization devices available for on-line purchasing, technical information, and product usage videos to ensure more accurate measurements.

The NRD precision weighing products eliminate these inaccuracies." Pharmaceutical, R&D and hospital laboratories, as well as colleges & universities now have a solution for the problems caused by static charge. The new Precision Weighing website has educational information visitors can view and download to learn how to effectively eliminate static charge in any laboratory environment. Both bench top and in-chamber devices, along with supporting accessories, can be purchased directly from the website through an easy to use e-commerce shopping cart. For more information, contact Greg Gumkowski at (716)773-7634 Ext 339.
