This photo by Don Topolski was taken on Whitehaven Road in late August. "We had out-of-town guests and, as we were talking about the abundant wildlife in our back yard, we looked out the window to see the deer in our neighbor's back yard."

Craig Kopra captured this scene on Saturday night, October 9, 2010 at the kayak launch area near Beaver Island. Craig explained that the streak is the satellite, Iridium 10, and light reflecting off the left antenna for a 15 second exposure. It was an impressive -3 magnitude. The north star, Polaris, is not far away to the satellite's lower left. "I was hoping to capture more of the river, but was unsure how much higher in the sky the flare would be," Craig wrote.

Beautiful Buckhorn - Sept. 2010

Craig writes: (9/15/2010) Whilst riding my bike through Buckhorn State Park, the lighting and some of the shadows were beginning to really stand out at the time. A great day it was to take a half a day off from work, do some house chores then go for a power bike ride around the Island.

This fawn was photographed today while romping around in Beaver Island State Park. The fawn was just below the old overflow parking lot for the golf course and beach. "I did not see any signs of the mother," Gary McDannell said

"Visable Sunken Ship" - March 2010

Gary and Emily Dahlstrom drove over the North Grand Island Bridge, northbound, when Emily looked over to her right and could see the boat wreck that is just offshore there! The Dahlstroms turned around and came back and parked at Buckhorn Island State Park. "We walked back to the Bridge and up it a short way until we were even with the underwater boat," she said. "The water was very low, and very clear that day. I took pictures. We could see a sandbar has formed behind the wreck, and we could see individual ribs of a wooden boat. And part of the boat was sticking out of the water," Emily said
It is believed that the wooden hull work boat has been there a very long time.

Gary wrote, "I took photo of a young deer on the morning of Friday, February 5, 2010. There was a second one, but he was camera shy. They were crossing Ferry Road Between the Parkway and Baseline. The deer appeared to be very young, and I would guess that it was not one year old as yet..."
