    Trucks, trucks & more trucks! Come check out construction, emergency, commercial, and other specialty vehicles. That's not all - there will be a Toy Truck Raffle & Ice Cream social inside the library! Open to all ages. Registration is *not* required.

Citizen Preparedness Corps - May 2023

    Saturday, May 20, 10:30 am
    With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. This training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies. Each family that attends will receive one Preparedness Kit. This event is brought to you by the Governor in conjunction with the Grand Island Memorial Library and Mark Poloncarz, Erie County Executive. Friends of the GI Memorial Library Bag Raffle - April 2023

    Runs through May 23
    Each time you visit the library, present your Friends Membership Card for one entry into the bag raffle. One ticket per card per day. There are 4 different bags to choose from and each includes a $25 gift card to a local restaurant or gift shop, a Friends Bag and new reads! Don't have a Friends membership? Individual memberships are available for $5 at the circulation desk. Winners will be notified May 24th.

    Saturday, April 15th 10:00 am-3:00 pm General Sale. Fill a bag for $5. Bags will be available. All proceeds to benefit the Grand Island Memorial Library. Material donations are being accepted. Please drop off during open hours.

    Explore the night sky & learn about astronomy and space in this unique travelling planetarium! SNOWSHOE FUN AT THE LIBRARY - February 2023

   Wednesday, February 22 at 11:30 am.
   Ages 7 and up family event. A limited amount of snowshoes will be available, but please feel free to bring your own. Learn about the history of snowshoeing before venturing outside to try our modern snowshoes! In the event of no snow, we'll go for a walk around the library and learn some neat nature facts.     Ages 12-17 The term 'Outsider Art' refers to art created by people who have not received formal training, but create awesome stuff!
