Julie Roth Neville Passing - October 2018

    Dear Grand Island School-Community:
It is with great sadness, I learned today that Julie Neville, our beloved Huth Road Elementary fifth-grade teacher, passed away after her long battle with cancer. As you may know, Julie is a graduate of Grand Island Central Schools and she was an outstanding student, athlete, coach and teacher in our district.
Julie and her family have strong ties to our school-community. Julie and her husband, Jim, have four beautiful children who currently are part of our school district family. Jaxson is a preschooler, Jameson is in kindergarten, Jayden is in third grade and Jonathan is in fifth grade. Additionally, her father, Jon Roth, has served as a teacher in our district and currently serves as our athletic director. Jean Roth, Julie’s mom has served as a teaching assistant with us at Huth Road Elementary School and Jeff Roth, Julie’s brother is the athletic director at Wilson.
Julie has left a legacy of love, compassion and positive energy second to none. She has influenced countless students, parents, colleagues and friends. Her memory will always live on in our hearts.
It is very difficult for all of us to face the death of a young adult. Even if your child did not know Mrs. Neville, he/she could be affected by the news. Your child may be confronted with a variety of emotions which might include shock, sadness, and confusion. For the remainder of this week, a support team of psychologists, counselors and social workers will be available to provide counseling and support to students and staff.
At home, your child may have questions and worries about this loss. We have grief resources available on our website homepage under Quick Links that may prove helpful to you as you discuss death.
I know you will join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the Neville and Roth family. Please know that we are here to support you and your child and if you have an issue you would like to discuss, please call your child’s school.
    Sincerely,
Dr. Brian Graham, Superintendent of Schools
